Dubya Dubya III

I was going to call this post "Kerry Defeats World War III" as an homage to the infamous Truman/Dewey headline and the hope I felt earlier last night that was dashed in Florida.

Instead, I think Dubya Dubya Three better sums up where I think George will take us all in the next four years.

I saw this map on another site, and I liked it:

New_map_1

Good luck and hang tough all you Americans who suffered through the loss.

Bless you. Also, if you would, please keep the door open. A lot of us may be coming through, if we can.

All those Christian values your map pokes fun at are really scary, huh? Why can't we have some different values that make much more sense then "Love thy neighbour". Something like suicide killings, kidnapping sounds like a far better religion for us, wouldn't you say? I don't know why they even allow those Christians to vote.

If all "Christians" acted in accordance with the tenets of their faith, I don't think anybody would have a problem with them, Wayne. I don't think Rob was poking fun at Christian "values". More at people who hide behind the Bible to do some pretty awful things.

I wouldn't poke fun at *all* those Christian values. Just the one's that are ridiculous and hypocritical.
Love Thy Neighbour. Nice sentiment, sure. How far does the neighbourhood extend, Wayne? What if your neighbour lives three blocks away and he hates you. Do you still love him? Or do you persist to focus on last year's complaints about his dog with the loose bowels (which the 'hood dubbed the Whippet of Mass Diarrhea) and throw eggs at and t-p his house, claiming self-defence in the off-chance that his dog (which nobody's seen in months, by the way) may shit on your lawn?
If you're gonna stand behind slogans like Love Thy Neighbour, Wayne, you gotta commit all the way, friend.

Messages like those represented by maps above really are more effective with a brief explaination of what it may represent. The map does not really show those values you consider ridiculous and hypocritical, so it could be misleading, and imply it is a general statement. It is all about clairity, as the ad says. I appreciate your taking the time to do so. As far as I am concerned, the Love thy neighbour is something I struggle to improve on every day. It would be dishonest to say otherwise. But, I stand behind the statement that it is a struggle worthwhile.

I think Christianity, is as idiotic and dangerous as any other religion. I understand the need for a "safety blanket" view of the world, but it's just not as simple and clear-cut as any current belief system - including mine - attempts to paint it as.
I'm not saying that anybody is wrong, it's just that nobody is right.
No offense intended, this is simply my point of view

Of course, one could view the intentions of this map as to poke fun at the Blue States, which could be seen as lost so far to the left, thay could be called Canadian. More proof that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, eh?

If you want to think the map is poking fun at the overly left parts of USA that's great. Please just stay in the red part and leave the rest of us alone. No matter how juandiced your eye G.W and his cronies are bad news. If only it were possible to seek refuge in Canada for those looking to escape the coming wars and draft. I'd certainly welcome those Americans that are "lost to the left".

I think its really amazing that GWB managed to win this election by being the Jesus candidate...by taking the "so called" Jesus stance on such fringe issues as abortion and gay marriage. Its too bad that there wasn't someone out there to challenge whether or not he was taking the Jesus approach to international issues (Who would Jesus bomb?) or to domestic issues (Whose taxes would Jesus cut?) Somehow I don't think JC would have been storming Fallujah or cutting the taxes of the richest Americans on the day after being elected president. There's no way the military industrial complex and the Christian church should be represented by the same ticket. No tent should be that big. But somehow, in Jesusland, it works. Too bad there wasn't a democrat or Christian leader with balls enough to point this out. Maybe they could have peeled off some of those Jesusland votes from Bush. Actually, Reverend Al Sharpton pointed out those kinds of inconsistencies all the time, but nobody listened to Reverend Al. And Wayne, to compare the best Christianity has to offer (love thy neighbor) with the worst Islam has to offer (kidnappings, suicide killings) isn't a fair comparison. You should have tried comparing the ideal of Jesusland with the reality of Jesusland (i.e. legitimizing and supporting a campaign that has killed tortured and humiliated over a 100,000 Iraqi men women and children.) I wonder if a majority of Muhahmed-land would ever vote to support this kind of evil shit. Unfortunatly, they might.

The Washington Post is reporting that 22% of
all voters in this election were White, Born-Again Christians.
I'm pretty sure that 22% of all Americans are not White Born-Again Christians. I know that the Republican election machine puts emphasis on denying the right to vote to as many minority voters as they can. It is still disturbing that so many of the people who will suffer the most in the Bush regime can't get out and vote.

"I know that the Republican election machine puts emphasis on denying the right to vote to as many minority voters as they can."
WOW that is interesting Dylan...just how do they go about denying these minorities their rights? was that a fact based comment or just your opinion?

Neesie, here's a couple of sites to get you started.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/3956129.stm
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0621-11.htm
Then think about the 250,000 provisional votes (votes challenged by party officials and therefore not counted) in Ohio and the fact that the Republicans won an appeal to allow party officals to challenge votes at the polling stations in this showdown state just days prior to the election.

interesting reading there josh ty :D
just curious...once the residents of the United States of Canada have received their govt funded education will they be moving to Jesusland to actually pursue their career as so many Canadians do?

dylan said...

You can also check out www.michaelmoore.com and www.mediamatters.org for some other info on the Republican campaign and tactics used. I mean if you look for news from sources other than the ones spoonfed to you on your cable tv plan you might become better informed.
Then again after taking a shot at me and apparently reading the links Josh supplied you switch to a poor attempt at humour. In true Bush fashion when presented with facts you can't ignore you try and throw a red herring out and distract people.

Neesie? Could you and your country please stop ending the world with your foolish ideals. It's really starting to piss us off (not Canada, the world). You are righteous. This is not a formidable trait. It is a dangerous trait.
Please... take a long walk... do some thinking. Not justifying, but thinking...
I'm not saying you're the only "bad guys", but you're the guys with the most potential for damage.
You are being manipulated by powerful, cold people.
It's not your fault, you were born into it.

Neesie? Do you actually believe that Jesusland is at the center of American prosperity? Are you attacking publicly funded education? Thats not too wise in a democracy. Do you want to be ruled by an even more ignorant population. If I was to take my (overpriced) education and work in the USA it would be in California, New York, Washington St., New England. I sure as hell wouldn't be looking to make a name for myself in the heart of Jesusland, a small town in say... Alabama (though I'm sure its lovely.) I really wish the rest of the US would just dump Jesusland...its really not a healthy relationship. The US is too big anyway...they should have let Jesusland have their confederacy during the Civil War.
